Piemonte
E’ una regione dell’Italia nord-occidentale, ai confini con la Svizzera e la Francia.
Come indica il nome stesso, il Piemonte è la terra delle montagne: è infatti circondato su tre lati dalla catena alpina, che proprio qui comprende le vette più alte e i ghiacciai più vasti d’Italia.
Il Monviso, il versante piemontese del Monte Rosa e gli altri spettacolari rilievi offrono paesaggi di singolare bellezza; numerosi sono anche i comprensori sciistici, tra cui la Via Lattea e il Sestriere, che accolgono con le loro modernissime attrezzature gli appassionati di sport invernali.
Sullo sfondo delle Alpi si aprono grandi e pittoresche vallate, tra cui la Val di Susa, la Valsesia e la Val d’Ossola.
Ben diverso ma altrettanto caratteristico è il panorama delle Langhe e del Monferrato: un susseguirsi di colline coltivate a vigneti, punteggiate di borghi e castelli.
Specchi d’acqua e risaie, lunghi filari di pioppi e antiche cascine sono invece gli scenari tipici delle pianure che si estendono nel novarese e nel vercellese.
Meta turistica per eccellenza è il lago Maggiore, con Stresa e le isole Borromee, paesaggi incantevoli che ospitano antiche ville circondate da parchi all’inglese.
Ma la natura è solo una delle numerose attrattive del Piemonte.
Tanti altri sono i volti della regione: da Torino - la capitale italiana dell’auto - con la sua storia e il suo notevole patrimonio artistico, alle altre città, ai vari centri storici tra cui Cherasco, Alba e Ivrea.
E poi, i suggestivi castelli medievali tra cui spicca l’imponente castello di Ivrea, le preziose architetture, tra cui le famose Residenze Sabaude e i Sacri Monti.

Piedmont is in the north-west of Italy and borders Switzerland and France. True to the meaning of its name (foot of the mountain), Piedmont is a land of mountains. It is surrounded on three sides by the Alps, with the highest peaks and largest glaciers in Italy.
Monviso, the Piedmont side of Mount Rosa and the other spectacular mountains in the region, create incredibly beautiful landscapes; there are many ski resorts as well, such as Via Lattea and Sestriere, which welcome winter sports enthusiasts with their state of the art facilities.
The Alps form the background for great picturesque valleys, for example, the Val di Susa, Valsesia and Val d'Ossola.
The hilly landscape of the Langhe and Monferrato is different, but still beautiful: a succession of cultivated hills and vineyards, dotted with small towns and castles.
Expanses of water and rice-fields, long rows of poplars and old farmhouses make up the typical scenery of the plains around Novara and Vercelli. Lake Maggiore is the most sought-after tourist resort, with Stresa and the Borromean Islands, charming landscapes with ancient villas surrounded by beautiful lawns.
Yet, nature is only one of the many attractions in Piedmont. This region has many other facets: from Turin – the Italian car manufacturing capital – with its history and remarkable cultural heritage, to other cities such as Cherasco, Alba and Ivrea.
Next we come to charming medieval castles, including the imposing castle of Ivrea, and prized works of architecture, for example the famous Residences of the Royal House of Savoy and the Sacri Monti (Sacred Mountains). Wie der Name selbst sagt, ist es ein Land am Fuße der Berge: an drei Seiten wird es von der Alpenkette begrenzt, die gerade hier die höchsten Gipfel und Gletscher Italiens aufweist. Der Monviso, der piemontesische Teil des Monte Rosa und die anderen großartigen Gipfel bilden eine einzigartig schöne Landschaft; zahlreich sind daher auch die Skigebiete, unter ihnen die Via Lattea und Sestriere, die mit ihren modernen Einrichtungen viele Wintersportliebhaber begeistern.
Vor der traumhaften Kulisse der Alpen öffnen sich hier einige wunderschöne Täler, unter ihnen das Val di Susa, das Valsesia und das Val d’Ossola. Ganz anders, aber nicht weniger interessant sind das Gebiet der Langhe und die Gegend um Monferrato: eine schier endlose Kette von Weinbergen, Dörfern und Schlössern. Wasserflächen und Reisfelder, lange Pappelalleen und alte Bauernhöfe kennzeichnen hingegen die Ebene, die sich von Novara bis Vercelli ausdehnt. Ein wichtiges Fremdenverkehrsziel ist der Lago Maggiore mit Stresa und den Borromäischen Inseln, bezaubernde Eilande, die alte Villen mit ihren englischen Gärten beherbergen. Aber die Natur ist nur eine der vielen Attraktionen des Piemont. Die Region hat viele andere Gesichter: Von Turin, der Autohauptstadt Italiens, mit ihrer Geschichte und ihrem großen Kulturerbe, bis hin zu anderen Städten und Ortschaften wie Cherasco, Alba und Ivrea.
Charakteristisch sind die eindrucksvollen mittelalterlichen Schlösser, allen voran das mächtige Schloss Ivrea und die prächtigen Bauten der bekannten Savoya-Residenzen sowie die Sacri Monti. Acqui Terme und Vinadio sind zwei bekannte Kurorte zum Erholen und Ausspannen. Überraschungen und Entdeckungen jeder Art erwarten den Besucher, und natürlich auch ein großes gastronomisches Angebot für jeden Gaumen.
